LOL Roy I think we definitely are on the same page!!! Again you certainly are right in regards to a focused blog being a lot more successful (traffic wise) than one that tries to grab various subjects.

hello Lee,
i didn't cross you! I completely agree with you in this issue!

But don't you think that there is a little bit of difference on how you market a blog!

You can easily get a good rank there at yahoo or msn, by using key phrases in the title, but thats not so easy with google, even in the blog search page!

what people normally do is that they incorporate indefinite number of items and issues in a single blog! Unnecessary!

If your blog is topic specific, than there is hardly much to worry about key phrases, they are bound to come on their own!

Hi Roy - with the keywords thing what I'm trying to say there is that if you write about comic book characters and you want to increase your readership you should take a look at the keywords that are currently popular in comic book searches.

Say for example I'm writing a post about Batman and the current hot keywords associated with Batman is batcave. Well then I may try and incorporate that into the heading (only if it is relevant of course). Something like 'there's something rotten in the batcave'. It just gives my post a little more chance of getting seen.

But you are completely right you can't just throw keywords randomly at a heading and hope that it sticks!!

there is a basic difference between writing an seo article and a blogpost.

A blogpost must have a personal flavor to it even in the title! in fact the key phrase can do just well if you use them in the tag! I am not saying that you should not use key phrases in the title, but you should not make the title tag a bunch of key phrases, signifying nothing!
