Thanks natalie, there are tons of good reasons to switch to your own domain. However, you can use a "contact form" for blogger. They don't come pre-installed but you can do your own.

I'm laborously trying to switch to my own domain with a new kind of blog. Right now with blogger I don't get contact emails, or if I do I have no idea where to find them. But I do try to respond to people who comment on my site.

Thanks for the good advice!

I don't receive these often, but I always respond promptly when I do.

A big pet peeve of mine are blogs that don't offer any means of contacting the author(s). Really hate that!

thanks for the great comment dave

I recently sent out a request for a webdesigner to make me a 125x125 banner for BAYB. I asked several for a quote and got very little responses back, and maybe 2 prices.

I hope that person got fired! lol Hire me! :) lol

This is one of those subjects that start to provoke a yawn ... yet are so important they should be emphasized weekly, if not more often. It;s amazing 9sad, really) how many bloggers ... and other online businessmen do not check and respond to their email regularly.

If you want people to communicate with you ... an dif you don't, why are you spending the time to blog/build a website,e tc., then get all your emails going into the same sock and read/answer them.

A friend built a fancy (and expensive) website for a 'brick and mortar" sales company. After a week the site owner complained that the expensive new site sucked, he hadn't received a single inquiry. After some arguing and head scratching the site owner discovered that the employee he had assigned to receive the inquiries had been "too busy" to open her email. There were hundreds of sales inquiries in her in-box, but she felt that her "other work" was more important. If you're not making money, what "other work" are you doing?

I try to respond to the ones that need answering. But most of the time I get the email of the comment, then I respond back with an email. But I'll do it on my site every now and then.

Matthew, this is a really important point. By now I managed to reply to all emails I get from readers. I see them rising due to my 25 post series, but I can still handle it.
This will be very hard when you come to a point where you get mails in a 3minute rythm.
