Blogging could be one of the ways that I will use in order to earn money. Since it s a business, I have to stay competitive. Can you give some ways or methods on how to keep up wit h the competition in the market regarding blogging?

As someone who has been “blogging” for over a year now, I can say that yes, McDonalds does pay more than blogging for most bloggers. You have to be brought up or taught by a pro blogger most of the time and have crazy google hacking experience to really make a difference blogging.

… If you work at McDonalds, do you get free food?

I guess it depends on how you market your blog. I mean… I spend about an hour a day on my blog, I get a decent amount of visitors (500 a day) and yet make about 5 dollars a month.

So yeah… I’d be better off working at Maccy D’s… But only if I get free food. I’m a fatty

Sorry typo : “meaning nothing is cheap”. I mean free. I used Aust as an eg. because it is a British ex colony and most British colonies have similar tax system as British and they are bad bad bad ! You handover your money to the government and let them plan your health care, plan your education system, and you think you have free health care, free education, you end up paying the non efficient government workers chunk of your hard earn money than a far cheaper private health care insurance. This is my 2cents from a typical frugal investment savy Chinese American woman :). Again take whatever I said with a pinch of salt. Jamy

Yes, I agree 101% on that : “I’ve learned so much and been inspired to do so many more things online. You cannot put a price on that.”

The Chinese said “Wool comes from sheep”, meaning nothing is cheap. I lived in Australia for 20 years and has been a Australian resident for most part of my life, there is nothing called free health care because I paid 52% on my AU$82,000 per annual salary to have a free health care but here in US, hubby paid $240 monthly insurance with less than 12% tax in the US.

In the UK, you probably need to pay a big chunk of capital tax on the US$6k. Here capital tax is extremely low ! That is why Warren buffet is screaming he needs to be taxed more ! Checked one of the latest digged most article on Warren Buffet article on why he should pay more tax on his capital gain.

seaykopitiam, I’m from the UK, so we don’t have to worry about health insurance, we just pay a steady amount of tax

The other big factor is the learning. I’ve learned so much and been inspired to do so many more things online. You cannot put a price on that.

I agree with seaykopitiam.com. That’s why all these while when I read some bloggers who sold their blogs for a few thousand bucks and they are over the moon. Didn’t they count the time and effort spend?

Wow, I did not know my name became the center piece here . In fact, it is just a figurative speech .

When you compare the figure,don’t forget McDonald does offer health care insurance, 401k and pay time off and if you add that one. It would add up to > $6k .

If you are a full time blogger, don’t forget to factor in expense such as health insurance coverage ! Those expense can take up a big chucnk of that US$6k.My open heart surgery cost us US$400k and my recent pacemaker generator replacement costs us US$7.8k.

No, I am not trying to belittle bloggers .

Nov 2007, there is an article by Bill Rasmussen, the co-founder of ESPN on the subject on “How do you know when to sell your company, and how can you overcome the emotional attachment to the baby? ” He wrote : ” The right moment to sell is different for everyone and depend on your financial goals and the performance of the business.” and the same thing can be applied to Matt and his blog.

I look at blogging a very innovative business model. However, since the barrier of entry is near zero, you really need to be the best, best to make money. I would rather go this route : do a 2 years nursing school, sit for state board and be a RN, After work for 4 weeks, 3×12x50×4= $7200 , offer Matt $6k and the remaining $1200 buy gold and silver. The rest of the 4 days I can continue working up on the blogs that Matt has developed . And work for another 4 weeks, see what other blog I can buy . In a year, I can build up a blog empire provided I can get problogger and shoemoney to sell their blogs cheap to me, ha ha ha ha ha .

Don’t take my words seriously . Have funs and have a kit kat .

I am too happy with my recent gold profit, so I am crazy .

Plus blogging is fun. I actually have trouble pulling my self away sometimes. Although working at McDonald’s might be fun too. I liked working at Burger King when I was a teenager. By the way, my page rank got dropped to a 2 yesterday, I did have a 4. Have you heard of anymore page rank changes? As far as I know I’m the only one. Unless it is just something weird with my toolbar. ???Emma
