Getting Tipped by Scratchback

Mark wrote about Scratchback for us a while back, when it was starting to catch some steam. Since late November we’ve been displaying a top spots widget on our blog. Last night before going to sleep I received a nice email. It was my payment of 35.62$.

Scratchback vs Blogrush

It makes me curious when bloggers have a Blogrush widget and not a Scratchback widget. In weeks of having Blogrush I’ve seen very little traffic. With Scratchback I’ve actually received more traffic (from the scratchback directory listing) as well as earned 35$. Why not monetize a spot on your sidebar that isn’t generating any $?

Generate Traffic and “Tips”

A great and much needed feature was the creation of the scratchback directory. In the directory you can list your blog in up to 3 different categories. You can check out our listing in the directory. We listed our traffic and readership, hoping to entice tippers to spend their money here. This has already sent us several people who have purchased a Top Spot.

The directory has sent us about 50 visitors since we created our listing, a lot more traffic than I can say Blogrush ever sent us.

Our Tippers

I want to thank our tippers, several have purchased a spot more than once. We appreciate the support and hope we can send you even more traffic!

Fun little fact, our scratchback widget has been viewed over 30,000 times!

I joined scratchback, but the widget seems to conflict with my theme. If I use it then my tabbed featured post box won’t load. And vice versa. Someday when I understand coding better maybe I’ll be able to fix this. I agree scratchback is a good thing.

i tried scratchback and their tech support was the worst, and didn’t help at all, so i canned them. But I like tipping, so i do.

Perhaps you can give us an update in the near future if you are still happy with their service. I have heard a lot of good and bad things so far.

yeah we will definitely update on how we are doing.

We have definitely seen a lack in advertising via scratchback, but we hope to pick back up a little bit

Thanks for the heads-up on Scratchback, I agree on the BlogRush, I haven’t seen many results from it so far.

I will give Scratchback a try and see what happens.

I would have bought a spot, if the widget was in your sidebar. Oh well, I will check back later.

In response to the #2 complaint. Scratchback is a widget. All you do is add the javascript to your site/blog, what kind of tech support do you need for that???

ok, I figured it out. The widget does not show up in both the sidebar and the post on the same page. In other words, the widget is in the sidebar if you are not reading this post or on your homepage.

This was the first site I actually “tipped.” The price was fair and I’d been a visitor before to know about the quality content. Seemed to fit.

Without question, it was definitely a great idea for me to do. As soon as I drop off that list, I’ll be back.

Thanks for offering us “tippers” the option. :D

Scratchback is cool. You might be interested to know there is a similar widget available at http://www.bringabuddy.net. It allows for link sales as well as rewarding visitors for referrals…

I installed the Scratchback widget and haven’t sold any links due to the Google penalty that reduced my pagerank to 0! I got so discouraged, I stopped blogging regularly. My blogs were listed on the first page of Google for many keywords and they were buried. Ugghhh!

Today I got pr back on several of my blogs, so I’ll be back to blogging which means I’ll be getting some income again. I’m a wahm to 7 kids, the Google penalty really devastated me financially. I’m hoping Scratchback will pay off in May. As far as BlogRush is concerned, I’ve gotten some traffic. Of course, there’s no traffic like SU traffic! :)

By the way, I’m in your network on SU. I also voted up all your entries on BloggingZoom.
