How Did You Start Blogging?

This has to be a popular question for anyone who is successful at blogging. How did you start? If you asked me what blogging was a few years ago I would have no idea that it was even a word.

How I Started Blogging

It was a dark and stormy night. No, I’m kidding thats a little too dramatic.

Actually I wasn’t working and I knew someone who made money online. He suggested starting a blog. Pick a niche and write. So thats what I did. Figured out blogspot and started writing about Fantasy Football.

It’s not the best story, but it has opened up great opportunities. Being a blogger has allowed me to build a little income and enjoy doing it.

What I like most is that if I feel that blogging isn’t for me then I could always sell, blogs and websites hold a great value.

Making money blogging has taken a little longer than I expected. I’ve been doing it a year+ now and I’m not in the place I hoped I would be. I’ve learned a lot, at least 23 things, so I can’t imagine quiting now.

Whats your story?

How did you start blogging? Why? Who motivated you to blog? Or maybe, someone has motivated you to keep blogging.

I started blogging just to educate myself. I wanted to know to set one up and what it is all about. Now I’m on my 3rd design tweak getting ready to launch a new 3 column layout. I can’t stop. Not only is it fun to interact in the blogsphere, I am making a little money at it.

I started blogging nearly 6 years ago. The main reason was to surpress an ego trip I was having. I was reading in a magazine all about blogging and how a lot of them were rubbish. I was like “I’ll show you, I’ll start a blog”. Six years later I’m still going :).

I had a period of about 3 months off blogging, and I changed blogs because I wanted a fresh start, but I’m still here 🙂

I started blogging two years ago. At that time i was a regular user of various tech forums. I noticed that many members there had a blog of there own and thats what inspired me.

It’s been one year… a little bit more. I was frustrated with the crime in our country (South Africa) and just after our own personal run in with criminal elements, I started blogging, about misc stuff, but mostly about news (especially crime news).
Didn’t make me an optimist, but it was a place to express your thoughts about the future. 🙂

I started blogging in Sept ’06 because I wanted to learn more “blogging” and this new thing called “Web 2.0.” I posted my “web finds” and “My SysAd” blogs on Rhys’ toplist and then things sort of went from there.

It was when I came across the blog of my today’s Mentor. Tow and a half months ago, I haven’t blogged yet. I found his’ and found out how he does it. Then, last year December I decided to start one, as a New Years Resolution. January 1st was my first blog post.

Now come see what’s happening there… LOL

Before I started blogging, I knew that there is a possibility to earn money through it. But I believe that if you only blog for money, your blog won’t be a successful one. You must provide valuable information for others while earning an income, like this blog does. I started my blog on January of this year and gathering attention of the people now.I’m enjoying it and working hard to maintain it’s quality while generating an income. But I’m still having a poor monthly income. Hope that it will increase in the future. 🙂

I started blogging in 1999. I was inspired by a lot of blogs which were mostly done by people who knew how to code in notepad backwards, just kidding about the backwards part. But, they were beautiful and amazing feats of HTML. Blogger pretty much unknown then. The only software was what people came up with themselves. I think there was DiaryLand and LiveJournal, not 100% sure if they were a bit later or not. Anyway, I started blogging cause I wanted to create art online. Art being the blog itself as well as the contents.
