In fairness, Yahoo's analytics are getting good reviews, but I haven't tried them myself.

Hi,

I'm a blogger and a cartoonist, and have a lot of experience with Project Wonderful and Entrecard.

My opinion is that the two are not compatible. EC pumps up your traffic, but not your visitor dwell time, which is what makes ads works. Savvy PW users scout blog for the EC widget before placing an ad, because they know the traffic stats will be misleading.

In the end, I ditched EC, because I didn't want phony traffic, I wanted real traffic. I took a dip, then slowly recovered. All my sites have robust traffic now, and site quality plus PW is where I put credit (some may disagree about site quality, but I do my best).

Any blog thinking of leaving EC should scout out comics that might interest their readers and approach them to advertise if they are on PW. (Use the internal email.)

EC disguises blog failure, so evaluate your blog before making any big new commitments and see if it needs to be better. Blog success in my experience has been all about controversy and useful content -- they come for the first and stay for the latter.

I have about 38,000 visitors/month (25,000 at the highest site) compared to a few hundred a day tops when I left EntreCard.

If I thought EC worked, I'd still be there. I am not here to slam anyone's strategy, just to tell you what I've learned and accomplished. But unless you're getting at least 2-300 organic, real hits per day, don't expect to earn much hosting for PW. Build up your traffic with quality and know that EC traffic is discounted by many people on the outside looking in.

P.S. I have subdomains, so my stats may appear lower. Trust only Google.

Sorry Jay I'll write you back now :)

Well we had PW up for nearly 2 months, and we were never below 200 uniques or something like that (per day) with as many as 1,000+.

Some days we had no advertisers with a 30 cent per day minimum.

Hey,

It's because people look at the stats sheet and people automatically think that 10,000 visitors = click thoughs which is NOT true.

But I dropped PW a while back because it just wasn't worth it, in my opinion. Especially since it was so inconsistent.

But hey Matt, I sent you an e-mail for possibly contributing as a sponsor for my upcoming "review" contest. Let me know, thanks!

It's tough to stick with, but you have to keep your space up long enough to be appealing to advertisers.

Based on views and whatnot, the longer the box is up, the more appealing your space will look. If you ditch it too early, don't expect anything to happen I guess.

To each his own.....again :)

I use PW to promote affiliate links and get referrals. The bank of sites is small, too many comic related :), but it's worth a shot since the cost per day is so low.

Thanks Matthew, I like having your ad on my site. PW was kind of an experiment, once I pass the payout it probably will go, but I appreciate you advertising on my site. BAYB is one of my favorite blogs.
