Hmm, I haven’t blogged about Earth day, but I did publish a post about making your own cloth diaper wipes that are re-usable, I just didn’t tie it in with Earth day. In our day to day lives we actually live off-grid in a naturally constructed home, and compost all of our own wastes, so we are pretty green here .

I have not done much to go green. I am walking a bit more and hitting the gym on the way home from work, instead of making an extra trip out there, so hopefully that helps out a little.

I recycle everyday I always use paper instead of plastic .. I say a prayer everyday for the earth and the weather changes… you have great blog and sorry to hear bout your problems yesterday… with those kids..

Our city has yard waste recycling and so I bought “Green Bags” that I use for kitchen scraps and they can go right in the bin. They are made of corn and decompose along with the leaves, grass and veggies. We always keep reusable cloth shopping bags in the car and it is getting more and more common to see everyone bringing their own bags too. Yay! We don’t travel all that much, and I don’t drive, so we save a lot of money on gas and that helps the planet too. I am thinking of trying to wash clothes in cold water for a month just to see if it makes a difference in the gas bill. We used to do it all the time in the 70’s. Yes, I AM that old. No, not the 1870’s. Happy Friday!

First, I now work from home and that saves a lot of gas! I was commuting 60 miles round trip.
I also make my own breakfast cereal (granola), bread and yogurt. Not only is it healthier,but I don’t use any cardboard boxes, bread bags, and little plastic yogurt cups.
I try to buy most of my groceries in bulk from the co-op, and I buy local whenever possible.

My wife & I have been recycling as much of our consumable plastics as possible for the past year or so. We also tote around our own reusable shopping bags whenever possible. We’ve made a real effort to use fewer disposable items in the kitchen, like paper plates, plastic cups, etc.

Admittedly, my efforts have been pretty incremental, but every little bit helps and we’re always on the lookout for additional ways we can live a little greener.
