Dennis… you’re already linking to that post… sure, it’s more internal linking, but also not too much usability. So, yah, the self-pings can be good internal links, but you’re already doing internal links from the first page to the second page, so you don’t really need the links from the second page back to the first…. it’s just creating a circular link

I just recently un-installed this plugin to allow self pings again.

I too got really frustrated…really really frustrated.

That was before I got into internal linking…..self pinging IS good folks. Visitors may not click it, but the SE’s will (you know what I mean), plus it’s a good counterpart to “related posts” as they don’t always find the same ones.

If your still worried about dirtying the comments area, I also installed a plugin that separates pingbacks/trackbacks from comments…..one little problem is, I cant see where they went LOL

Thanks a lot for this. I’ve thought about my self-pingbacks for a while but never really thought of doing anything about it.

Installed this plugin on both of my blogs and both are activated. Would definitely recommend

Thanks for this plugin. Back then, in some earier versions WP had an option to skip self pinging. Now, Akismet has to take care of hat, which is not the best solution.

I wrote about this ages…haha… but it’s all good… But yah, self pinging is annoying, especially if you are doing internal linking like a good link builder should!

Thats awesome! I was looking for something like this for a long time. I always have to go back to my comment manager and manually delete any references that I made to clean things up because I don’t like to see pings from my own blog. Thanks!

We also link to internal pages all the time and I cant stand those pingbacks
