BAYB slowly got more difficult to manage as our regular writers started on new ventures or left the blogging world. I always envisioned BAYB as a community blog, and that’s what I want to keep it as. As we search for new quality authors, I’ll be doing my best to keep updating.

Its All Free Online

Over the last few months I went on an affiliate marketing binge. I was able to generate decent affiliate commissions through forums I participated in. When that dried up I went back to updating Its All Free Online (IAFO).

Through Social Media it has become it’s own community, which is great for any site. The way I was able to do that however was with Facebook and Twitter.

IAFO has grown to over 1600 fans on Facebook and about 130 on Twitter. Facebook has seemed to be easier to not only interact with people, but also continue to build the fans. The community has not only allowed traffic to basically double each month, but also create commissions, earn more money, and create new opportunities for networking.

BAYB Future

I’ve never really been able to create the size community for this site as I did for IAFO. Instead of BAYB being my main focus I would like to maintain it not only as a resource, but a place for people to share their posts and ideas.

With posting being almost nothing, we’ve actually GAINED about 250 RSS feed readers. Many of our great posts have continued to be picked up by bloggers as a resource and advice. In turn I’m guessing many of those people who visited through those links subscribed to our feed.

As we continue in the blogging world, I’d like to re-visit my strategies for websites, social media, and SEO. I’m not only looking to set up a few paid reviews, but I also have some new resources to share as well.

Contest Live

Contest Live and the Contest Live blog are my newest projects. I’ve gotten a lot into marketing contests and of course running my own. This was really just necessary. I’m looking to make it easier for everyone to run and promote their own contests. Contest Live is a voting network where you can submit and vote for your contest, or any of your favorites. The blog just really compliments that.

I’ve been looking for a long time for a theme I want to us. This theme is actually a free Wordpress theme that is made by Unique Blog Designs. I really like their work, so when I saw them offering this theme I definitely jumped at the chance to use it.

How to Retire at 21: This was an interesting blog review of Retire @ 21. This website and blog I definitely enjoy so make sure to read the review.

Making Enemies on Social Media: This post was a little difficult. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to write it. We’ve obviously been penalized by Stumbleupon due to some “enemies” which is very unfortunate. Who would of thought we got negative criticism on that post as well? Do we really complain that much?

I felt that the contest blog niche was up and coming and very deserving of a list like this.

Since I published the list I have reformatted the formula of which I previously used. I noticed about 5 blogs on the list no longer posted or were not in service so it was in need of an update.

There has been a lot of movement on the list. Contest Beat has taken the #1 spot. It’s too bad that it has been sold, I’ve tried to reach out to the new owner, which no luck. It still deserves to be the top blog though.

Several blogs lost a few spots, but two other blogs have really emerged. The first is Laura Williams Musings which has jumped from 5 to 2. She has a great blog, with tons of contests, giveaways and freebies.

The second blog is About Blog Contests. I recently asked GLF, the owner of ABC, to be our contest blogger for our weekend contest round ups. I think he has one of the better contest blogs, so I’m happy to see his blog jump all the way from 17 to #7!

If you feel your contest blog belongs on the Top 20 Contest Blogs list, please contact me and I’ll add it. I strongly suggest using our list as a resource when you are running your own contest. These bloggers are great and generally post about any contest as long as you let them know about it.

Traffic

According to statcounter, our traffic was 11,887 unique visitors. Stumbleupon and social media, along with google has help us pick up our monthly visitor total.

RSS Feed

Our Rss Feed count has been pretty much the same. Our high has been about 580. We aren’t keeping on track with the recent increase, probably due to the fact we haven’t run many promotions. I’ll try to roll with something next week.
