Comment Friday for August 3rd

Comment Friday has become quite a success and I really look forward to it all week. The “rules” are simple. Just leave us a comment about anything you want. I will select one commentor that really stands out to give a free link to, as well as a spot on our blogroll for the week.

This week for a topic I was thinking about the monthly earnings and stats. I posted BAYB’s stats and earnings, do you post yours? Do you like when a blog discloses their earnings and stats?

Our contest is ending this Tuesday so make sure you enter. There still is a good chance of winning. Remember the prize is a great laptop briefcase from Eco-Handbags.

Occasionally. I recently broke 100 subscribers to my blog, so will mention that eventually.

I think I’m more inclined to do it on my other blog project I launched yesterday: The Fair Review

I don’t generally as a rule, I’ve told you (Matt) a few months when I’ve been quite proud of a large figure but I don’t think I’ve mentioned it on the blog itself.

BTW Rhys I love that concept for Fair Review! I might just have to have a go at that. Can I put multiple blogs into the directory as long as I do multiple reviews?

Lee: Please do! As long as each blog has a review of a blog and not copied, we can stick multiple sites in.

Of course, you **could** review yourself, but that’d defeat the whole purpose, wouldn’t it?

All I have is a hit counter. I don’t run any “monetized” blogs yet.

Hey Matthew, link is up. I do like seeing stats to show what they are making from WHICH companies. It helps me otu when decided to delete some or add some. I don’t yet as I barely earn anything, in fact I’m JUST about to reach $50 on Google adsense. Not saying how long it took though.

I don’t talk about my stats or earnings for two reasons –
1 – I really try to focus on providing interesting content targeted for my niche and I would guess that the vast majority of my readers could care less about blog stats.

2 – My stats would need to significantly grow in order for me to want to share them… e.g. they ain’t that good, yet. 🙂

      Happy Comment Friday!

I am new at monetizing as well and I have just Adsense up. The first month it made me $1.42. LOL. With regular readers being 40% and referral traffic around another 40%, click friendly search engine traffic is low at around 10%. I guess I need to work on that..

I do like when bloggers disclose this and it kind of reminds me of now and then to click interesting ads on their sites to show some appreciation of their hard work.

I like reading the stats of different blogs when they’re posted. Maybe I’m just nosy haha. As for mine, I haven’t really considered posting my stats.

I do disclose my earnings for two reasons:
      1. It helps to motivate my readers. And really, that is what my blog is all about.
      2. Earnings posts always seem to be big hits. And of course, this drives traffic…

Hi! I am impartial to blogs disclosing there earnings. It isn’t any of my business, but it is interesting to see honest numbers at times.

I don’t disclose mine, but you can pretty much figure it out. I take very few PPP posts that are less than $10 and every few months someone will buy something from Amazon off my account.

Other than that my site is for sheer therapy.

I post my earnings weekly, usually on Sundays, but I don’t post my stats because frankly I don’t know them or how to get them.

I was listening to someone last night who said that they were always on the lookout for blogs that had comments placed on a regular basis as this provided a pointer to them that the blog could be used to provide information that the readers would be interested in and as there were a healthy number of comments it follows(?)that there are a good number of readers.
Is there any correlation that you can see between the number of readers you have, the number of comments that are made and the amount of money that arises?
Would be an interesting thing to find out how much ‘activity’ on the blog affected what money was being made.

im not sure how i could do the correlation between comments and money earned, but comments can definitely measure the success and loyalty of a blog

I’ll talk about my stats, but only in posts where I’m describing the stats programs I use and how I find the information I’m looking for…like whether Vanessa Fox is reading my site, lol.

As for my financials, I’ve not posted them, as they are so minimal as to be insignificant.

Woohoo, I made three dollars last month with Adsense! I’m on the road to riches, man!

See, this is why I don’t post about my earnings on my blog. It’s just embarrassing. 🙂

I don’t think it would interest my readers anyway, at least not until I’m so successful that I can get away with blogging about how to make money by blogging. Then if anyone snidely asks me if I’m in fact making any money doing this myself, I’ll have the numbers to prove it…

I like the transparency of seeing other bloggers’ financial disclosures and it gives the rest of us an idea of where we can go, but my first thought upon reading them is usually that the blogger is bragging and using the sensationalism from the profits they are making to drive more traffic.

I doubt I will ever disclose mine publicly on my blog, but if someone wanted to know I’d let them know personally.
