Blogging About Blogging Won’t Die

Bloggers who blog about blogging have been told throughout the blogosphere that it isn’t a real niche. That it’s pointless, as well as not profitable. Or so I’ve read…

It Won’t Die

Blogs about blogging are a useful resource for all bloggers no matter what niche they blog in. As long as there is blogging there will be blogs about it. It’s very similar to the make money online niche. As long as there are people who want to make money online there will be blogs about it.

Not Profitable?

Some bloggers have said that blogs about blogging aren’t profitable. With the low cost of maintaining a blog, it’s hard for them not to be profitable. If you break down the cost of hosting and a domain it’s under 10$. For this blog, it runs to be about 6.58$ per month. 6$ per month for hosting, .58 cents per month for the domain (7$ divided by 12 months).

I wouldn’t say that it’s been easy or I’m making a ton of money on this blog, you can see January’s earning report, but I am definitely making a profit. If you can offer good content that people want to read and really be honest, you can easily make that few bucks a month spent on the blog.

Pointless?

Blogging has grown exponentially over the years. Huge numbers of blogs are created daily. New bloggers are born everyday. Who’s going to teach them our ways? Someone has to. That’s why we have the uber bloggers that we do. They offered the content people wanted and needed. Not only did they help bloggers grow, bloggers made them grow. You can earn quick money on a “fad” niche like Webkinz or Hannah Montana, but that only lasts so long.

What is your opinion on blogs about blogging?

I personally hate the make money online blogs. Not creative enough to hold my interest, it seems like it’s a place for uber nerds. No offense but the fact that these guys are making money off your curiosity seems stupid and they really aren’t offering me anything at the end of the day.

Blogs about Blogging is an interesting niche. It seems to me that it smacks of “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.”.

Yes, they will always be here. I’m a fan of problogger and a few other “state of the blogosphere posts”. But blogs to tell me about blogging? Well, I’ve been doing it for 5 years now, and i’m still here, doing my thing. I can’t be doing that bad, can I?

My eyes a lot of “Blogs about Blogging” are actually more “How to make a quick buck out of blogging, then bugger off.”

However, I do agree blogging is profitable. But in only certain conditions. I make about $500 a month blogging. Sounds a lot but the amount of effort I put into it probably doesn’t make it justifyable. However, I do that instead of sitting in front of the television, and put the same amount of effort in when I was making $0 a month, so it’s a nice bonus for me :).

I blog about blogging sometimes. I have now for a time blogged about blogging and gave blogging tips etc. But now I’ve gone back to infotainment and my money tripled again so I would say blog about blogging but not only about blogging.

Well, my opinion is we do it because we enjoy it. Even if I had no readers, I probably would still do it as it is a avenue for my internal ramblings, and more importantly, no one listens to me when I speak verbally. :0)

These things always have cycles of being in or out anyway. In their own time, things may reach saturation point and things ‘may’ change course. Who knows.

The great thing about all the Blogs on Blogging is the sheer variety of topics still being talked about in a novel way. And to hear the same subject, on multiple Blogs but in a different voice and manner is still great fun. Serious, clinical, stylish witty, arrogant, obnoxious yada yada, there is still so much scope to Blog about Blogging without content drying up too much. Novel twists and takes make it so diverse. It’s a huge topic to cover so the boundaries are still being explored or revisited with new updates.

AT the end or the beginning of the day, it’s ‘your’ choice to read a blog on blogging. The fact it is there is great, read it or dismiss it, someone else will come across it and find it useful or not. You can anaylise and find fault if you try hard enough, just let things be…

And when I say ‘you’ or ‘your’ I don’t me you, ie Blog about Blogging specifically, I mean in general. Just wanted to clarify that… 🙂

See, even a Blog post about should we blog on blogging has ended up with one of my more lengthy comments. Go figure.

Are you considering increasing your ScratchBack list to 10 or are you keeping it at 5?

If so, seems Im going to be knocked off soon. 🙁 Boo Hoo.

I thought about this on mine. Double edgded sword.

One one hand, for the committed, with endless pots of money who want to ensure they are kept on your list, having only 5 will ensure thek keep ‘donating’ to keep on there when they are knocked off.

The flip side is, that some may just think, ‘sod it, costs to much and im getting knocked off too quickly to keep feeding the metre.”

I ended up changing mine to 10 as I would rather have more links on there and give the people who paid, a longer run at being visible.
