Has Paid Posting Died?
Here’s a question – has paid posting died?
I’m talking about sites such as PayPerPost which offered to pay bloggers to post sponsored “reviews” of products and sites.
I logged into my PayPerPost account today. I haven’t used the service for a long time – I gave up on the concept a while back, and what I saw looked like a graveyard.
The majority of “availiable” opportunities on the PPP site, are for credit cards, loans and other spammish looking sites. I’m starting to get the feeling that the mainstream advertisers, just like myself, have given up on the entire concept.
So here’s the question – who is still using PayPerPost, ReviewMe or other similar sites? Has Paid Posting Died?
P.S – Guys follow me over on Twitter. I have about 20 domains that I want to giveaway and a couple of GoDaddy Giftcards. Just @ me! And check out BloggingTheme.com where I’m writing for as well these days.

All the good opps get taken quite quickly, so you are left looking at what’s left that nobody wants to do.

I think paid posts of any kind died for me when Google did its slapdown last year. I lost my rating and had to start all over again with a new concept for a blog. I started writing about genealogy on iPentimento and haven’t looked back. PPP seemed to throw me to the dogs anyway. I wrote very good (IMHO) adverts for them and PPP knew what Google was going to do, and they kept giving me crap opps. So, I make my money other ways. If you start blogging thinking you are going to make tons of money, enough to pay for your blog, it is highly unlikely for most people.

I login to PPP almost daily so I’ve seen quite a trend in what has been happening over there. I don’t use the forum, never have. But like you said with the opps, it’s a graveyard indeed!
Earlier this year I recall a time when I was able to have my pick of opps fairly frequently. It was nice to see the PayPal notifications when the payout would come on an equally frequent basis.
But now, either the available opps are crappy choices, or greyed out. At first I thought it had to do with me changing the categories my blog was associated with. But I recently was able to change it back and still the opps dwindle down to maybe a dozen, most of which are greyed out.
And SocialSpark? I gave up on them because they gave up on my a long time ago. Not sure why, but they clearly don’t have the support they need.
I’m still holding out for SponsoredReviews though. They’ve really lowered their standards on types of advertisers they accept, and a good chunk of the price ranges are way out of balance with the required words.
Wow, I think this comment is longer than my last post on my blog. 🙂

I don’t do paid posting per se, but do do some paid postings.
For example, I’ve been sent an MP3 player to do a review of, though they seem to be targetting my readers rather than me personally.

It died for me when google hit me hard and took my pagerank from a 3 to a 0. When I go to PPP now (which is rare) all the opps are already greyed out so I’m guessing there must be people who sit on there all day long – I don’t have the time for that. Pay U 2 Blog has still been good to me though. But for the most part, getting paid to blog has died for me.

No, I don’t think paid blogging has died. It’s just more circumspect now.
Most of PPP’s advertisers have moved to SocialSpark, because it’s all no-follow, and geared more towards helping people keep their PageRank, which for most people, Google did give back/restore.

I too miss the train, I joined PPP made $20.00 and then not a penny for the last three months. I have had a few Google site but that put out just $40.00 a month… now it down to $20.00.
Now i’m ppp for today.com and it the first time i’m making a few bucks. I still have no clue what i’m doing but it is giving me some chump change so i can at least get paid a few buck to draw the cartoons… i just wish I could tap into something to make some real money so I can work at home full time…

Actually, this is my first time to see a write up (the link you gave) that paid postings are dying. I still see a lot of them around actually. Personally, I do not earn from paid posting. The only earnings I get if ever i do the paid post in my blog is with the entrecards.
However, outside my blog, I have paid postings but it does not work as how we bloggers do with anchor texts and links. Mine was with a travel site where my posts are paid. It can be also classified as a paid post but not as how we see it like the ones by PPP.
I still support those people who do paid postings though. I make comments to them if i have time. I know those paid posting sites making ways between and among bloggers/publishers and advertisers are much help for both sides, especially to the former.

I think it is… I was doing ok with paid posting then it got hard!!!! Then my paid posting site lost PR and I was in a bad situ that I am still recovering from (my own fault).
But I think in the long run it has been better for me and I am concentrating on getting a few new sites and my professional design service running(my prices are cheap right now (opening offers) if you need anything 🙂 ).
