Handy Promotion Tactics for Struggling Bloggers

The world of blogging has become increasingly competitive. As more bloggers break their way into the industry, audiences are constantly moving from site to site. This makes it much more important for you to find ways to get traffic to the content you’re producing.

You can’t always expect your audience to find you. You need to be the one who reaches out to them through promotion. Thankfully, there are many methods of promotion that you can get involved in.

Self-Promote

Be a part of your promotion by participating in every social media community you can. Joining social media platforms does not mean you should just stick to the top sites, but to also utilize forums and genre-specific sub-groups. Once you’ve got an account on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, look at what other options are out there.

StumbleUpon and Reddit are very popular sites amongst bloggers, as they can drive heavy traffic to the content you’re promoting.

You should also add social media sharing buttons on your blog. These work best when placed at the end of the content, as pop-ups may make the visitor want to click-away. Encouraging your readers to share your posts to their friends will expand your outreach.

Get Involved With Email Marketing

Add a plug-in onto your website that allows people to sign up to your mailing list. This will allow you to collect the email addresses of your audience, so when you put a new post out, you can promote it to everyone on the list. Put the sign-up form where your visitors will be able to clearly see it. Once you start creating your campaign message, ensure it’s personalised, bold and straight to the point.

If you’re still relatively new to blogging and don’t yet know your way around plugins, you may want to read a guide on how to start a blog which will take you through the basics. Once you have this mastered, you can research the different plugins that are available for this type of email promotion.

Work With Other Bloggers and Influencers

For the next piece of content you go to produce, ask yourself if there’s anyone you could reach out to for a quote. Once you have your list of influencers and have compiled their points of view into your post, you can then make it live and ask them to share it. If they’re all willing to do so, your post will be able to reach their audiences.

Use Visuals

You’ve heard it a thousand times, but it still stays true. “A picture is worth a thousand words”. We live in a society where consumers want to be able to take in content quickly and conveniently. If you can put your message across in a picture, it’s going to be much more shareable and appealing.

You should also try to stay away from stock photos, as they can make your posts look unoriginal and pretty basic.

Images aren’t the only visuals that you can utilise. Start a YouTube channel and produce videos that are relevant to your brand. If you can make these relevant to a trending topic, they’ll attract a more interested audience.

Summary

Next time you go to write and promote a piece of content, consider the above methods. Learning how to do this is something that no blogger can ignore, as otherwise you’re limiting your audience and leading your blog towards failure. You should also keep a close eye on what your competitors are doing. If something is working well for them, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do the same.

If you’ve already exhausted these tactics, you may want to re-evaluate the content your producing and assess whether the underlining problem is related to that.
