Comment Friday for June 8th

After a solid Comment Friday last week, I am hoping we get 30 comments this time around!

If this is your first comment friday, it is a fun and simple idea. Just leave us a comment about anything you want, and we can get our own little discussion going.

Each week we will chose one lucky commenter to be featured as our Blog of the Week and that blogger will get a link to their blog, and a spot on our blog roll for the week.

This week I would love some feedback on the website. What would you like to see more of? What is too much? I’d like to hear what you are blogging about yourself. What areas are you trying to target and why?

Here is a little extra, especially for those bloggers trying to get off of blogspot. Win a year’s worth of hosting at BloggingTips.com. If I win I will donate it to a lucky BAYB reader, I have hosting for two years already paid for.

Jumping in with the first comment it looks like. In a few hours I will be leaving for a viewing of Ocean’s 13 courtesy of a vendor we work with.

What is your favorite or least favorite movie of the year? My least favorite is Shrek 3, I thought that movie was horrible.

I thought Spidey 3 was a bit too much. The Spidey CGI seemed less realistic (did I really just imply that seeing a guy swing thru building on a wire could be realistic?) than in #2. There could’ve been plenty of plot with just 1 or 2 villians – but they piled on 4.

I’m definitely excited about Ocean’s 13. Is it okay for me, as a completely hetro guy, to admit that I think Clooney is a pretty hunky dude? Not that I’m switching teams or anything… I’m just saying that if I could choose to look like any Hollywood actor right now, well, you know who it’d be. Dede would, of course, prefer that I chose Brad Pitt, but good gosh, that complexion is starting to look kinda rough!

Wow! That is a great prize. There are a ton of blogger entries that you should be getting.

Do you have a blogger account to advertise this competition? If you don’t…you should consider getting one. The internal blogger PR does work to an extent. That view different site at the top of all the blogger sites used to be my StumbleUpon.

I am always blogging about myself at Ladylike4.com, so today. I am leaving my comment from my rock club site. Isn’t that sort of revealing?? I have a rock club. LOL…

I also must admit. I have not seen a single current movie in the last year. I am completely out of the movie mode. Having a 2 year old puts the damper on the movie mode. I used to see them as soon as they hit the box office, but now NetFlix it is.

I haven’t been to cinema for ages!

Anyway, in reply to Matt questions, I enjoy posts like ‘I’m pissed Off’ – good way to encourage people to leave comments. I can’t read blog everyday lately because of my workload, so I may not read more than 3 days old posts! If I read interesting stuff that is more than 3 days ago, I feel I would be too late to add comments. Otherwise BAYB is good e.g. quite a lot of tips on how to get more traffic.

I’ve been to Cornwall, England, last weekend and it was great. I am blogging about Cornish food this month as I only update my blog once per week.

Good luck with getting 30 posts and more! ๐Ÿ™‚

Talking of competitions I am running one at my blog where the prize will be a fully paid membership at Global Pension Plan. When the target of 100,000 members is reached (currently 63,000 and increasing by 2,000+ per week) the trust will purchase the relevant policies and members will receive รขโ€šยฌ55,000 (this will be รขโ€šยฌ100,000 if the member is below 27 years of age).
You do have to provide proof of identity when the target is reached but the requirements are no more onerous that any financial institution.
To enter just go to the blog at http://investjournal.blogspot.com and read all the details. Entry closes on Sunday 17 June.

Changing the subject I like the colour scheme here and the layout is not too cluttered. Also I’m interested in more discussion about the good and bad of sticking with blogger. Is there a little inverted snobbery at play here as it seems to me that blogger sites are perfectly good in most cases. Or is it more to do with having a unique domain name which I can see some merit in. Happy to hear views from others.

I haven’t been to the movies in a while either. I think the last one I watched in the cinemas was 300. I loved the way it was shot for lack of the right terminology! ๐Ÿ™‚

Matt, you have really improved on the layout incrementally and that’s important, to evolve as needed and and as you learn. The headers on the sidebar (may be intentionally) are of 2 different sizes and IMHO, it might be visually appealing to have them in the same size. Other than that.. I dig it.

hmm.. that’s a tough question. I never feel like I know enough to make critical comments. I think part of what I read about this blog for is to find new ways to drive traffic to my own blog. That’s the content I look for.

First I want to say I think you’re doing great with the site. The hosting thing sounds great, but I wouldn’t know how to set it up for a blog. I also what to comment on this Paris Hilton freed after 5 days spent on a 23 day sentence. The sheriff put her on house arrest because she had a medical condition. So if I’m put in jail for the same thing, can I get a medical get out of jail free card? Don’t bet the farm, I’m not famous. I wrote about this at my blog That Says It all at http://that-says-it-all.blogspot.com as part of I”m Pissed Off week. Take a look and tell me what you think.

I haven’t gone to the movies at all this year, but I just rented “The Office” (British version)…hil-freaking-larious. They get away with a bit more raunchy humor, but you can definitely see where the American version got some of their jokes early on!

Man, I didn’t even comment on what I’m supposed to comment on (disregard my previous comment).

I like the fact that you are blogging about other people’s blogs, while at the same time, you are generating new readers & traffic here. Nicely done!

My blog is about free software and tips – – basically ways you can be productive on your computer without having to spend loads of cash. Confessions of a freeware junkie is a bit tilted toward the IT-folks, but occasionally I post about some tips & titles that are more home-user friendly.

      Please stop by!

Oh yeah! Movies! Last one I saw, and I don’t see many in a theater, was Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

      Very enjoyable.

And: I wouldn’t change a thing about this site! Keep up the great work!

as far as movies go I’ve been watching all that come out on DVD. My favorite must be “Catch and Release,” since I’ve now rented it for a second time.

Good luck on reaching 30 comments, had I seen this before my last post I would’ve done a link. Will you be doing this every friday? The prize sounds nice BTW. Oh someone mentioned Pirates, gotta say I love those movies. Haven’t seen the newest yet, course I can’t recall if it just came out or if it IS coming out.

to the Paris Hilton thing…she’s back in jail. lol.

I’ve been watching movies on dvd for a while now. Having 3 kids makes it real hard to go to a theatre lol. I’m not complaining though. Much more relaxing to watch at home.
