The BlogRush is Over

I held off on the inital ‘rush’ for this website. Instead of posting another generic post announcing that BlogRush is sweeping the blogosphere I held off on that, instead put the widget in on the sidebar.

The ‘rush’ for MyBlogLog has really died down since they haven’t offered anything new in a while, so the BlogRush widget took it’s place.

The Results

As bloggers like John Chow and ProBlogger have reported, their click-through rate has been low, so how about bloggers like me who don’t have 100’s of referrals?

It’s even worse.

Credits we’ve earned over “the last 7 days” is 4,353. If traffic remained the same thats over 10,000 impressions per month. At a result of only 3 clicks and no revenue generated, that space is essentially wasted.

Abuse of the System

BlogRush has stated that click-through rates are low due to ‘users cheating the system’. Unless the format is drastically changed I can’t imagine how they can weed out who’s cheating and who’s not.

It has also been mentioned that some users are placing the widget in places that doesn’t get many clickthroughs anyways. Or that the blog itself doesn’t get many clickthroughs. This will continue to be a problem. Unless there is some moderation, which would be impossible, clickthroughs will remain low due to this problem.

If you were someone who actually experienced a “rush of traffic” consider yourself lucky.

      Yes,

I see the same. I have less page view (about 200) with NO click through at all (zero 🙂 ).
But when I look at my referrals (with sitemeter.com), I see the following appear: http://widget.blogrush.com/box…com/&ref=&r=0.6417316502191575
Strange thing isn’t it? Although I must admit I see only a few.

I think I will make on post on just that 🙂

I think BlogRush should be named to BlogHype.

It appeared to me that too many spam sites were showing up.

I didn’t join in the beginning because I figured it was just a traffic exchange system. John is a smart guy and will probably figure out what to change that will make it more valuable.

I removed it today, it is useless. I got 6 clicks out of 21000 impressions in the last 7 days

I’ve been wondering the same thing about my results. Based on your findings and my recent ponderings, I’m thinking it’s only going to benefit a handful of people.

I’ve seen it on a bunch of pages and I agree that the hype is down right silly. But, oddly, I always look at the widget on other people’s site. And, I click on it. I like seeing other people’s headlines and blog names. So, I’m using it.

Call me stupid but, that’s all I really care about. Of course this is because I am making NO effort to make money off my blog so it doesn’t matter. I just write to write. To me, 6 more clicks is six more clicks…

I received a loooooooong e-mail from BlogRush yesterday. You probably got it, too. Anyway, it seems that they are trying to clean up some of the issues and spam. I think the obvious spam I see is my biggest complaint with it.
