Comment Friday for October 12th
Last week I got a little off track and we didn’t get a winner. This week we definitely will. I’ve got some great stuff planned and I need your help deciding what to do.
If this is your first comment friday, the idea is pretty simple. Leave us a comment about anything you want. I will select one lucky commenter that really stands out, and I will be giving out a free link to that person. In addition to that that, I will be giving them a free blogroll spot.
Okay, what I need your help with is that we are wrapping up the prizes from our last contest, and we’ve already got sponsors for our next one. For the Mp3 player we got over 40 entries! Congrats again to our winner Laura (your prize will be sent soon!). For this contest, Bidvertiser decided to put up 200$ worth of cash prizes!
Now the question is what kind of contest should I do?

Happy Comment Friday! I need some contest ideas too. I have some prizes stocked up and just not thinking up any good ideas. I adopted a cat today. A 14 month-old male (1/2 ragdoll and 1/2 maine coon) and I named him Lovie! No not after Lovie Smith silly. Hehehe!

Any competition which allows me as the only entrant is fine by me 😉

Sheesh, I’m bone-dry on contest ideas, but I still couldn’t resist posting something on Comment Friday. It’s kinduva tradition now.

What about hosting a writing project? With the number of subscribers you have, I would think you would get a good response. I was introduced to BAYB via DBT’s writing project in the summer.
I think writing projects are a great way to get introduced to new blogs and promote a sense of community for the host blog.
And I would suggest a project topic of “Why Hawaii is the best vacation destination.” 😉

I agree with Sheila about the writing contest, however, I think the topic should be a bit broader.
I think you should have a poetry contest about “Why I hang out at BAYB”.
Poetry can come in all shapes and sizes, and ranges.

How about something with a Halloween or Thanksgiving theme? I’m sure you’d get a lot of hits that way.

I always miss these sort of contents. Either I can’t find them or they are already over with by the time I know about them.

Hey Matt, it has been awhile since I surfed over. Things have finally settled down enough on my end that I can start enjoying my fave blogs again. Love the idea of the contests for comments. I’ll have to blog about it and send some of my own readers your way. Oh, and love the new look too! Cheers! Sue

I have yet to run a contest on my blog, but I hope to in the future. So, I may not be all that creative when it comes to contest subjects. However, with Blog Action Day coming up so quickly, you could maybe run a contest in which bloggers could post something about the environment. That way, those who aren’t involved in BAD, or can’t participate on that day, can still post on such an important subject.
Or maybe a spoooooky Halloween contest. That could be fun, too!

A writing project does sound fun, however that may be a future contest that I will consider doing.
I may just keep it simple linkback+rss feed gets an entry. I love finding ways to reward old and new readers.
This contest will be great and I’m getting another one lined up after that 🙂

I don’t know about a contest theme, i have run 2 recently and only attracted 1 entrant.
I think the prize for your contest should be a cat called Dovie. Polli will win it and give all the neighbors a laugh when she calls her 2 cats in for feeding time.
