Spiderman 3- First Images of Venom

Picked up the first really clear images of Venom from Spiderman 3 from Empire Online. Head on over to Quit Your Day Job to see a couple of the images (hey I can drive traffic to my blog!!)
Identity Theft
I think it is important for us all to be aware of identity theft. It is very hard to correct and restore your credit and identity if something happens to it. In this movie these criminals are very sly, and if we are aware of the possibilities, we are better off.
Simple Networking
The best way to get links is to leave good, non-spammy comments on other blogs. How to find them? What to say?
A good start is to find the blogs running various re-occurring posts such as Thursday Thirteen, Wordless Wednesday and some others. The premise is simple: Thursday 13 is where you post a list of 13 things about any subject you like, and then find other bloggers lists & comment on theirs. They then follow your link back, and it’s a great way to generate traffic & meet new bloggers.
For an example, check out todays Thursday 13 on my blog: Blog-Op You can see my list, and underneath a box containing the names & links of bloggers who have visited & commented. You can follow these links and then leave your own comment and link – it’s a really good idea. Others include the Wordless Wednesday where you post a photo of your choice, and Photo Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, where you are given a theme to find a photo.
If you’d like to know more about the autolink box, visit the creator Mr Linky, and I also have a tutorial on how to insert them into your blog on Blog-Op. Drop your link in my post & then follow the links out!
Update: One other very useful thing about the autolink box, is that the links you leave are Technorati friendly and count towards links to your blog = higher Technorati rank. Even more reason to use them!
Google Bombing
I was reading a book called The Rough Guide To Blogging and I came across something called Google Bombing.
It seems that Bloggers sometimes use their collective linking power to have fun at Google’s expense. If they can make a concentrated effort to point to a particular site in great numbers, all using the same link text, they can dictate the top Google results for a particular phrase. This then is Google Bombing.
One humorous example of this was linking the words ‘miserable failure’ to George W. Bush’s official website. Doing this made Mr. Bush’s site hit the top spot on Google when anyone searched for ‘miserable failure’ – and it still does!
Some businesses have also attempted something similar for their own websites – not as miserable failures, of course!
Good blogging,
Mike.

Reviews by Soapbox Jury
So far 2007 has been a slow year for review requests. Now is a good time to get your requests to us. Unfortunately, because of the time taken for each review (about 30 mins) we can’t promise to include every request, but we’ll certainly consider them all. If you would like to submit an item for review please visit our welcome page and read the submission criteria.
Best wishes for the new year

Blog about your Blog Hotseat Interview
Blog about your Blog has a new little way of getting to know the fellow authors. I have come up with a series of questions and will send them to the selected author. They have about a week to respond and it will go on the blog. Eventually I hope to get everyone interviewed, and with new members joining everyday this will definitely be an ongoing thing. Every week interviews sound good.
Since I presented this idea I am going to be nominating the first author. I have chosen Mike from Mikes Money Making Mission. He has been with this blog since its early days and has been one of the biggest contributors to it. After Mike’s interview he will then select the next person to get interviewed and so forth.
I have a lot of standard questions, but I would love some more. I have a few ‘personal’ questions, followed by general blogging questions, and BAYB questions. Submit questions you would like to see in the interview by emailing me at ff_n_stuff@yahoo.com or commenting on this post.
Thanks, I hope you all enjoy this and will participate in the idea.
Yahoo buys MyBlogLog
Yes, it’s true!
I first read this story on Echo Mixed Nuts and couldn’t believe it. After further research, I was getting mixed signals from different websites.
Some reported MyBlogLog has been sold for about 10 million, while others were reporting that they were still in the early stages with Yahoo!
After going right to the source, MyBlogLog (their blog) reported they have in fact been acquired by Yahoo! and the entire team will be moving the San Francisco. Congratulations to the MyBlogLog team on their sale, it definitely paid off.
The Yahoo! team reports they don’t plan to change MyBlogLog right away, and it seems they will remain separate from Yahoo. One article I had read, the author wished that Google had purchased MyBlogLog, and I had to laugh.
No official word has been made as far as I’ve seen as to how much Yahoo had to pay, but like I mentioned, it is rumored to be about 10 million dollars.
I hope the purchase will help mybloglog as a website, and not make it another corporate website with no heart.
Check out our MyBlogLog community, and join up. I have set our goal to become a top 50 community, we are about 1/3 of the way there. With many new changes likely on the way for MyBlogLog, now is the best time to join. One possible new feature that has been mentioned is personalized skins for your mybloglog community page, which gives you a great way to personalize it. Hope to see you joining, leave us a comment.
