Comment Friday Winner: Squarefaced
This weeks Comment Friday received 35 comments. Not bad, but a little short of our goal of 50 comments. I noticed a few PayPerPost bloggers stopped by after a forum post I made at the PayPerPost Forum.
The topic for this week seemed to revolve around age, after Zura from Creative Clown posted “Am I getting old, or the weeks going by faster and faster?” Most agreed as it seems we are all getting older, fast. I am counting down to my 21st birthday which is now only 9 days away. Not only that, but it seems like yesterday I posted last weeks comment friday.
The Fridays seem to fly by, and I can’t even seem to keep track of them. That brings me to this weeks winner. Squarefaced was one of our last commentors, but the only one to post that I had the date wrong! Of course, how stupid of me. I had Comment Friday listed as May 10th, but it was the 11th.
We welcome Squarefaced as our Blog of the Week and a nice featured spot on our sidebar. Squareface is from Singapore who recently blogged about some delcious looking popcorn chicken and their PayPerPost earnings.
Make sure to be with us next friday when we chose a new blog of the week!
Quit Your Day Job sells out…
Well kinda.
It’s a big day for me. I’ve spent the last week working out the direction I want to go in with a number of my blogs and I’m slowly returning to posting again. Crypt Hunter has an all new look, I’m about to start writing an article and an essay regarding the gender roles portrayed in X-Men the movie for university and for Pop Culture Heroines. I’m about to wander off and read up about how to grow pineapples from cuttings for Urban Cultivation and finally I’ve sold my soul to the devil for a little bit of return on Quit Your Day Job.
I exaggerate. It really isn’t as bad as I thought it would be but I’m now doing sponsored posts on Quit Your Day Job. The thing is what I really hate about most sponsored posts is the artificial feeling about them. These people have no interest in what they are writing about and more often than not the post doesn’t even fit in with the theme around the blog.
Well not QTDJ.
I’m only going to write about things that I’m actually interested in, things that there is every chance I would’ve written about them in the first place. And I’m going to write about them the way I would write it. Granted you often have to include certain links and keywords but that’s fine as long as I’m not writing something I don’t agree with. The word positive can be taken a thousand different ways.
I’m also suggesting that anyone can email me in regards to these posts and tell me that I ballsed it up – that way I can make sure I don’t do it again! Take a look at the post here.
So it only took me six days away from the blogosphere to get recharged and I’ve got a pretty long list of ideas that I want to get out there and I just wanted to thank everyone who commented and sent me emails of support – I really appreciate it and as I said over at QYDJ I left with an image so I may as well return with one that cracks me up:

Comment Friday for May 11th
Comment Friday is a fun and simple idea. Leave us a comment about anything you want. By leaving a comment, you will have your blog visited by me, and you may even be featured as our Blog of the Week. I will select a blog from the comment list to have a small post written and featured as our comment friday winner.
This week I am aiming for 50 comments! I know we can do it, it seems people just stop by for our fridays!
Last Friday’s winner was Love All Books. He decided to make his own Comment Friday, and recognized Blog about your Blog. We appreciate it and love the fact that other blogs are wanting to start their own comment friday. Make sure to stop by Love All Books Comment Friday as well. If you want to host one, feel free to. Just link back to our comment friday post, and we will link to you!
Buy Your Land with LinkaLand Directory
We have finally received our first ReviewMe review. After our ratings went up and our price stayed low, I knew it was only a matter of time. LinkALand must have thought it was a great deal, so let’s give them their moneys worth.
What is LinkALand?
“Site is pretty much self-explanatory”
I wish they would have told me! I got a very small description, and no direction to go in. I will do my best however.
Virtual Land or Linkaland appears to be a new directory. When I say new, it appears very new. There isn’t a lot on their website.
Ever played Risk?

In risk you take over territories, well it seems to be similiar at Linkaland. You can buy land where you want your website image to be displayed. The layout looks just like the game board. Pick your country.
They’ve got the whole world in their hands
Literally, they’ve got the whole world and only one resident. To get some more websites listed and people involved I think they need to run a promotion of some sort, ‘to get the ball rolling’. In this case, to get the world filled! It would of been a perfect time right now to run a promotion, order some review me reviews, and started loading their directory with quality sites. So how do you become a part of this world…?
Pricing Problem
Well, there is no pricing information links available on the website. The way that I found it was by emailing them when I went to “Buy Land” To get their prices, you must first email them and they will send you more instructions. That process was unnecassary, and they could easily put up a page about buying links etc, instead of via email.
Now that I found the prices…
The pricing structure is terrible. For example, pricing for the United States is listed at 5 cents. When you get to the bottom it states
“All prices are calculated based on the following; All prices are in 10 sq km, please note that a pixel of land on the swf file being diplayed on main page is approximatly 1000 km².”
So obviously you are going to need to calculate how big your file is to find out the price. I suppose it is just a guide, but there could be an easier way to calculate how much space costs. I’d rather not get on a calculator to figure out what I am paying.
The Positives…
This isn’t a regular boring directory with no images, Linkaland has something new, different and unique. I just wish they would have had more to look at. Again, it’s hard to review something thats not there.
Pixel directorys have definitely been hot lately for some, and this might be another promising one, just need to work out some things.
What’s Happening on my Blogs
I haven’t posted here in a few weeks, I have been very busy on some other projects. Anway yesterday I posted on Mike’s Money Making Rants & Raves that a second time an article of mine was featured on the homepage of Helium. The article is Has Ebay Outgrown the Average Seller. Each time the article has appeared on Helium’s front page I have seen a big jump in earnings for that article. If you get the chance check it out.
Now over at my other blog My Quest to Make a Living as an Artist, I just finished a commission and I am now working on another.
Although my main love as an artist is doing surreal paintings, the comic book superhero paintings are getting me more work. Below is the painting I just finished and the one I just started on along with the concept skecth. Click the image to see a larger version.
Matt had ask a few days that I post some of my artwork here so while I’m at it I will post some of my favorite pieces. Click the image to see a larger version.
Matt and Lee I hope you enjoy these paintings.
Photography Made Difficult?
Not all that long ago, photography required a fair amount of study and skill to master technically. Both professionals and amateurs possessed a knowledge of film, the darkroom, chemistry, development, optics, cameras, light and exposure just to name a few.
The advent of digital capture and cameras that do everything but brew a cup of coffee, this knowledge is no longer required to make a photograph. These days, all you really need is a cell phone.
So the question is, has the ease and immediacy of digital ruined the art of photography?
Top Five Reasons for Blogging
Everyone probably has their own top reasons for blogging, here are mine.
1. Success
I think everyone has that thought in the back of their mind. The dream that I COULD be big. It just takes good content, and some clever marketing and you could possibly pull in a lot of readers, viewers and eventually money. If I am going to do anything, I want to do it right, and I want to be as good as I can.
2. Passion
I love to write, that’s what I’ve always done, write. Whether to release from a stressfull situation or get away and lose myself in my words. I’ve always found a good way to put things into words, at least I think so. I started with essays and stories, then poetry, and now blogging.
3. Time
I began to blog, because I had time. Time to kill, time to do something with. Since I wasn’t working I was hoping to make money online somehow, and had the time to do it. It gets hard when you CAN’T find the time to blog.
4. Community
I love being apart of things that are bigger than myself. Blog about your Blog has become a great community, it’s not about me. It wouldn’t be the blogging community it is without the rest of our bloggers contributing. Even if you have a personal blog, it can become bigger than you. Your influencing people with your writing, thats why they link to you. The things you write no longer are just your thoughts and words, they become everyones.
5. Fun
I have become obsessed with stats and growing this blog. It’s fun to check my email to see what is going on. I read google reader daily, and participate on other blogs. Writing, communicating, growing, it’s all fun to me. If it wasn’t then I probably wouldn’t be blogging.
What are you top 5 reasons for blogging? Feel free to “tag” other bloggers.
Blogging has been made a rather ease by the wifi internet access that enables a fast and reliable online access virtually anywhere. Mobile bloggers can choose any wireless internet service that fits well with their requirements, for example, at&t wireless that provides services on both mobile and landline equipment. The supreme quality in the service has been made possible through wireless internet booster installations. A well-trusted name in the world of wireless communications is cingular wireless.
Mini Fridge Update
I mentioned yesterday we are giving the fridge away when we reach 150 rss subscribers. I have made a list of 33 entries so far. Make sure you are on that list if you want to win the fridge. Remember, I am currently not sending this prize out of the US, it wouldn’t be worth the shipping costs.
If you want your entry to show up as a link to your website, just leave a comment there and I will fix it. Our old blogspot domain is still a page rank 4, however it is a list, so I wanted to give the option.
